Graduate Credit Training

The following training courses have been especially designed by GTI to offer educators a comprehensive understanding of technological concepts. GTI in conjunction with the University of North Dakota can offer one graduate level credit with any of these training sessions. 

 The cost for the credit is $50 to be paid by the participant.

Universal Computer Technologies Competencies Training: - up to 12 participants
This course offers basic concepts in utilizing word processor, spreadsheet, database, image acquisition, image editing and desktop publishing software. – 3 days: 18 hours
9:00 AM to 4:00 PM each day - 1 hour for lunch
Utilization of the Internet: - up to 12 participants
This course offers concepts of Internet browsing, searching, e-mail, downloading and web page design. Software includes Netscape Communicator and Internet Explorer in Macintosh and Windows. – 3 days: 15 hours
6:00 PM to 9:00 PM the first day, 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM the second two days - 1 hour for lunch
Introduction to Web Page Design: - up to 12 participants
This course offers the basic skills necessary to troubleshoot, implement and maintain a web site including the core concepts of programming in the HTML language. – 3 days: 15 hours
6:00 PM to 9:00 PM the first day, 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM the second two days - 1 hour for lunch
Understanding Computer Graphics - up to 12 participants
This course is designed for those who want to learn more about working with electronic images and graphics. Topics covered include: graphic formats, acquiring images, manipulating vector and raster images, preparing images for the web and creating basic animation. Participants will use Paint Shop Pro and Adobe Photoshop during this course. - 2 days: 15 hours

Introduction to AutoCAD LT 2000: - up to 6 participants
This course will serve instructors of technology as an introduction to drafting on the computer and basic operation of AutoCAD LT 2000 – 3 days: 18 hours
9:00 AM to 4:00 PM each day - 1 hour for lunch
ColorCAMM Production: - up to 6 participants
This course offers instruction in the utilization of vinyl cutting and printing, and integration of sign making software. (Macintosh and Windows) – 3 days: 18 hours

C/N/C Competencies: - up to 6 participants
This course offers concepts of computer numeric controlled devices including robots, mills and lathes. – 3 days: 18 hours

Principles of Technology – Mechanical/Pneumatic/Hydraulic: - up to 6 participants
This course offers basic concepts in mechanisms and fluid power technology. Included are sections on mechanisms, pneumatics and hydraulics. – 2 days: 15 hours

Principles of Technology – Electronics: - up to 6 participants
This course offers an introduction to the basic concepts of DC/AC electricity and the basic laws that govern a complete electric circuit. Included are sections on circuits, measurements and theory. – 2 days: 15 hours

Principles of Technology – Laser/Optics: - up to 6 participants
This course offers an introduction to the basic concepts of laser technology and fiber optic applications. Included are sections on light, lasers and fiber optics. – 2 days: 15 hours

Principles of Technology – Bio-Chemistry: - up to 6 participants
This course offers an introduction to the basic concepts which govern the life cycle. Included are sections on the life cycle of plants, basic genetic theory and DNA restriction analysis. – 2 days: 15 hours
8:00 AM to 5:00 PM each day - 1/2 hour for lunch
Introduction to PowerPoint Presentation -This course covers these types of data witch can be used in a presentation. Participants will each assemble and deliver a PowerPoint presentation. A 15 hour course and can accommodate up to 6 participants.
Introduction to Microsoft Office - This course offers an introduction to using Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Integration between applications is also covered. Prerequisite for this course is computer competencies or equivalent. This is an 18 hour course which can accommodate up to 12 participants.
Essential Skills for Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) Testing - This course is designed to help participants prepare for taking the MOS exams offered by Microsoft. Topics covered include: test objectives for Word, Excel and PowerPoint; tips for test taking; and practice test and certification simulation. Prerequisite for this course is Introduction to Microsoft Office. This is an 18 hour course which can accommodate up to 12 participants.
